Scholarship Overview

The Prince George's County Innovation Scholarship Program awards cash scholarships to high school graduating seniors ("Innovation Scholars") who attend school in Prince George's County, who commit to majoring in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) fields in a 4-year or 2- year or registered apprenticeship programs.

WealthyGen was therefore founded around these key purposes:

  •  Empowers up to 30 graduating seniors with cash rewards for academic excellence
  •  Awards up to $1,000 per graduating senior admitted to 4-year programs.
  • Awards up to $500 per graduating senior admitted to (i) 2-year programs or (ii) state or federal registered apprenticeship programs
  •  Creates awareness and promotes interest in STEM careers
  • Promotes financial literacy to increase the financial capability of participants
  • Promotes leadership and community service

     

Eligibility Requirements

To be eligible to receive the Innovation Scholarship award, the scholar must:

Be a high school graduating senior who attends school in Prince George’s County (Current 12th graders, Class of 2025)

Engage in leadership/community service activities

Commit to majoring in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) fields in a 4-year or 2- year or registered apprenticeship programs

Attend a free virtual Financial Literacy Workshop to be hosted by WealthyGen

Selection and Award Process

Scholarship applications close on November 15, 2024, at 11:59 PM EST.

Our scholarship panel will review and select eligible applications based on: 50% grades, 25% leadership/community service activities, and 25% on essay. Review essay questions here.

We will send award notifications to the selected recipients by November 21, 2024.

WealthyGen will present cash scholarship awards to the selected recipients at its 4th Annual Scholarship Awards ceremony in the 1st week of December 2024.

All scholarship recipients must be present at the awards ceremony to receive the award. There will be no proxy.
