Nigerian Army Widow: An Economic Empowerment Story

Nigerian Army Widow: An Economic Empowerment Story

We are happy to share with you, a story that gladdens our heart: An economic empowerment for a Nigerian Army widow, through WealthyGen’s WE Project. The joy and hope this brought to her, are the reasons for this wonderful project.

Now, I am a cash madam, by His grace. Before I didn’t have any hope; but now, if they call me and ask, madam what are you doing? … I have a poultry, can you come and work for me?

Mrs. Rose Williams – The empowered widow

Mrs. Williams is a widow to a Nigerian Army officer, who died on a peacekeeping mission in 2016. She suffered without any help.

On the 2019 International Day for Widows, she came on a FaceBook live with WealthyGen and shared her story of widowhood and the many challenges she was facing.

The Empowerment

Through the Women Empowerment Project, WealthyGen took her up and empowered her with a poultry farm business to generate sustainable income.

We purchased everything she will need: the birds, the feeds, vaccines, and all other materials. In addition, we provided her with financial education, opened a savings account for her with support fund, and trained her with the skills to successfully run the poultry farm.

With her economic empowerment, Mrs. Williams can now stay at home, run her business and take care of her special needs child. Most importantly, she is empowered to earn sustainable income, feed her children and give them sound education.
