The e-dividend portal of the Nigerian Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has crashed because of the enormous traffic from WealthyGen’s blog post. This post was a wake-up call to Nigerians about billions of unclaimed dividends in the Nigerian Capital market.
Since WealthyGen shared this post here a few days ago, Nigerians are waking up to this billions of unclaimed dividends. Over twenty thousand Nigerians visited this portal from Wealthygen.org within a couple of days to search for their names and download the e-mandate registration forms. This huge traffic caused the SEC’s portal to crash. At this time, people are no longer able to access the portal.

What You Can Do to Claim your Dividends
Regardless of whether the SEC's portal comes back up or not, you can still register to claim your past or future dividends. If you do nothing, you may likely lose both the past and future dividends because SEC has ended the issuance of paper dividend warrants and requires investors to register for the e-dividends. If you are certain that you own shares of any company, follow these steps:
- Gather information about your shares: name of the company, account number, Registrar's name and your name.
- Get you bank details: account name, account number, BVN, address etc.
- Go to your Registrar's office or the bank where you have an account.
- Request for the e-dividend registration form
- Complete the form and submit it back to your Bank or Registrar with a copy of your passport photograph.
- You are done! Your bank or Registrar will do the rest!
If you are not certain that you or your loved ones bought shares or if your names are listed, do not give up. Continue to check back on the SEC's e-dividend portal for when it becomes available here: www.sec.gov.ng/non-mandated/

You should take your change of name documents with your share documents to your bank or you Register> they should help you to process it.

Please follow up with them and be sure to always check your email. Oftentimes, they send a follow up email after you apply. They do this if they need additional information from you.

I just came across this site while searching online for info on how to go about e-dividend enrollment. I have searched the SEC portal and saw both my name and my father’s.
I have also downloaded the e-mandate forms for different registrars. Going through it I need some clarifications please:
1) Must the account details (including the BVN) be strictly that of the shareholder or is any other account acceptable?
2) Can someone else sign the form on behalf of the shareholder (e.g. me completing the form and signing for my father)?

Yes, to ensure that the right owners of the shares are the ones receiving the dividends, the account details must be that of the shareholder. An exception exists if the shareholder is deceased. In this case, banks have other requirements to claim the dividends of a deceased. Please verify with your bank or Registrar for their requirements.
The shareholder has to sign. Also, there is an exception and other signing requirements if a shareholder is deceased.
Hello. Just seeing this notification sent toe on WhatsApp. I never knew this was going on. I did try to put the e payment through when I came back home last year, but as of right now, no payment has been payed to my bank account. What can I do next?

Please exercise some patience. It does take a while for them to go through and verify all the entries. sometimes, it could take over six months. You can stop by their office or call them to follow up.
Thanks a lot for this post I was able to claim my unpaid dividends for so many years. I however noticed that not all the companies are captured in the link. For example Access bank which I am sure of and probably more companies. Do you know why this is so? I will encourage others to check their archives at home for such documents cos the link is not really comprehensive.

Maybe the company hasn’t paid any dividends yet. You will see your name only If you have any unclaimed dividends.

I got my shares certificate through P.O Box then, I discovered that my middle name on the share certificate was misspelt by the Bank, “Gabriel” instead of Gideon.
