WealthyGen Empowers Mrs. Mmaribe in Abagana

WealthyGen Empowers Mrs. Mmaribe in Abagana

[Full Video Report Below]

There are many widows suffering to feed their children. Just a fraction what we might call “little” is all it will take to empower them and change lives.

Mrs. Mmaribe is a widow with 7 children without any source of livelihood or any financial support. Some of her children live with other families; the younger ones who live with her do not get any form of education.

At the preliminary visit to Mrs. Mmaribe, she disclosed that they don’t have any food; and most days, when they do not have any food or hopes of getting any, they go hungry.

Tensed and troubled, Mrs. Mmaribe pulled aside one of the WealthyGen volunteers at the local banking hall where they had just opened a savings account for her, with a support fund from WealthyGen.

With her face down as she struggled to hold back tears from rolling down her eyes, “can I withdraw N500 (equivalent of $1.40) from the account to feed my children tonight?” she pleaded with volunteer, who, after some thoughts, went to meet the banker.

“Because you didn’t have a Bank Verification Number (BVN, similar to SSN) and had just applied for one to open the account, you cannot withdraw money from the new account until after 3 business days, when the BVN must have been processed”, said the banker.

Chinenye went home to her 3 young children, and that afternoon and night, just like other days, they went to bed hungry…

WealthyGen Empowers Mrs. Mmaribe

…The next day, WealthyGen intervened and began her full empowerment. WealthyGen established for her, an activity that helps her earn sustainable income to feed her children.

We purchased food items for the family and provided financial literacy training to help her begin to practice her financial literacy skills. The savings account we opened for her, funded by WealthyGen, will help for the upkeep of the family until her business takes off successfully. Most importantly, we set her up with her chosen business activity based on her skills – a hair braiding business.

With her empowerment, Mrs. Mmaribe is now able to earn sustainable income to feed her family and give her kids sound education.

Join hands with WealthyGen and let’s make the world a better place. Help us to change lives and provide better life for more widows who are struggling to fight poverty.
